Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect when you visit our site or contact us, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain-spoken on purpose.
Rainier Fractional Consulting ("Rainier," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. We are a boutique fractional CFO practice, not an advertising business, so we keep the data we hold to what we actually need to answer you, serve our clients, and run the firm. This policy applies to rainierconsult.com and the forms, scorecards, and tools on it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect three kinds of information, and only when there is a clear reason to.
Information you give us directly
When you book a consultation, fill out a contact form, take the CFO Readiness Scorecard, use a calculator, or subscribe to our insights, you may share:
- Identity and contact details.Your name, work email, phone number, and company name.
- Business context.Your company's revenue range, what is prompting you to reach out, and any details you choose to include in a message.
- Engagement information. If you become a client, the financial and operating information needed to do the work, governed by your engagement agreement.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect basic technical data when you browse: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and the dates and times of your visits. We use this to keep the site secure and to understand which content is useful.
Information from third parties
We may receive limited information from our service providers (for example, our email, analytics, and scheduling tools) and from public business sources when we research a prospective client before a call.
2. How We Use It
We use the information above to run the firm and to serve you well, specifically to:
- Respond to you.Answer your inquiry, schedule and prepare for your consultation, and follow up personally.
- Deliver our services.Scope your needs, prepare a proposal, and carry out an engagement if you become a client.
- Send what you asked for.Deliver scorecard results, calculator outputs, and the monthly insights you subscribed to.
- Improve the site.Understand which pages and tools help, and fix what does not.
- Protect the firm.Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
3. Cookies and Analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Some are essential to make the site work. Others help us measure traffic through privacy-respecting analytics, so we can see, in aggregate, which content earns attention. We do not run advertising trackers that follow you across the web to sell you things.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Note that turning off essential cookies may break parts of the site, such as form submissions. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
4. How We Share It
We do not sell your data. We do not rent or trade it either. We share information only in these limited situations:
- With service providers.Trusted vendors who run our email, analytics, scheduling, and hosting, under contracts that require them to protect your information and use it only for us.
- With your engagement team.If you become a client, with the CFO and any support staff working on your engagement, and, at your direction, with your bookkeeper, controller, CPA, lender, or board.
- For legal reasons. When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Rainier, our clients, or the public.
- In a business transfer. If Rainier is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
5. Data Security
We treat your financial and business information the way we would treat our own. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect it, including access controls, encryption in transit, and vendors selected in part for their security posture.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please do not send sensitive financial details through an unsecured web form. If we ever need that information, we will tell you how to share it safely.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- Access and portability.Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Correction.Ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion.Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep for legal, tax, or engagement reasons.

7. Data Retention and Children
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Our site and services are intended for businesses and the people who run them. They are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our practices, technology, or the law changes. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice on the site. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
9. Contact Us
